CLARE PARRY LOZANO

We get one life. Let's make sure we live it.
In our world today, it is so easy to lose ourselves.
There is so much that is not as it should be.
There is so much clamoring for our attention, our energy.
There is so much that is ready made to numb and distract.
There are ill-fitting expectations put upon us.
There is that lie, that we are told so many times that we cannot help but believe it—
that we are not enough.
I spent a lot of days, a lot of years, trying to measure up, trying to be enough, until I just couldn't anymore.
It was then, that the journey that is at the heart of each of our lives began for me—
the journey home to a love that has the power to set us all free.
That love saved me from a life that was small and anxious and driven by fear, for this life—
this life that is real and beautiful and hard and true.

Through my writing, my speaking, my preaching, my pastoring, and my living
I long to be a companion on that journey for others.
When we come home to ourselves—
to the unique people we were created to be—
we are set free to live the life we were meant to live.
And this is my deep conviction—
the world is in desperate need of more people living the life they were meant to live.
The world is in need of you—me—us all.
We get one life.
Let’s make sure we live it.

WRITER
Coming Home, Taking Flight is the story of coming home to myself and coming home to my God, which is, of course, somehow, one and the same. There is so much in our lives and world that works to cut us off—take us far from the truth of who we are, the truth of whose we are. This spiritual memoir is the story of my journey home to my true self. It is the story of finding my wings. It is the story of discovering the grace that has enabled those wings to unfurl. I deeply trust that all of our stories hold power within them. What I am learning, is that when we tell them, that power is unleashed and can transform us all.

SPEAKER
I appreciate opportunities to share my voice with others in our community and beyond. During the summer of 2022, I served as the preacher for the Montreat Youth Conferences that occur each summer in the Western mountains of North Carolina. Over those two weeks, I had the chance to share life with 1500 youth and adults from around the nation. The Spirit's presence in our midst was palpable and her movement was powerful. Sermons from that time, as we engaged the theme, "More than Enough," can be found on my Media page.

PASTOR
I have been blessed to share life with the people of Heritage Presbyterian Church for over twelve years now. Our community is located on the southwest corner of the Kansas City metro area on what used to be a dairy farm, before the suburbs expanded our way in the 1990's. We have eight beautiful acres of land, complete with two silos and a hay barn. In recent years, God led us to transform our property into a community gathering space we call Farmstead Eight and to cultivate a new worshipping community Harvest Table as part of it. Through the Farmstead, we are cultivating an inclusive center of community life that gathers people together for good. Learn more about all of our ministries at www.gatherforgoodkc.org.
